Hindustan Zinc reduces zinc prices |

India's top zinc producer, Hindustan Zinc has reduced the zinc prices by Rs 3,200 (USD 72) a tonne to Rs 221,500 from Dec 30, 2006, reports Economic Times.
On the other hand, the company has increased the lead prices by Rs 1,500 a tonne to Rs 86,300.
Hindustan Zinc was created from the erstwhile Metal Corporation of India (MCI) in 1966 as a public sector undertaking. In April 2002, the Government of India disinvested its majority stake in HZL, and it became a part of the Sterlite group, which is a part of the London listed Vedanta Group.
The company is engaged in mining and refining ore to produce non-ferrous metals – zinc, lead and silver. Sulphuric acid, cadmium and zinc sulphate are its by-products. It also has installed capacities for phosphoric acid and superphosphate.
The shares of the company closed at 823.65. The total volume of shares traded on BSE was 139, 482. back to the News |
